The 1kg pack of Day Old Chicks contains about 50 chicks with an average weight of 40g each.

The day old chickens come from certified hatcheries that breed chicks for the egg laying hen industry. The male chicks are obviously not usable for egg production, nor are they suitable for the meat production. However, day old chickens are an ideal food source for many animal and bird species. After sex selection, the male chicks are gassed. They are then transported to the processing location and chilled. The chicks are manually graded with any low quality chicks removed. The ‘good’ chicks are blast frozen at -29 ° C after they are packed.
